Giacomo Russo has been one of the first turist operators of Positano.His friends called him “GIACOMINO” and “DA GIACOMINO” was the lucky meeting place situated close to the Spiaggia Grande.The restaurant used to have also recreative purposes:you could play cards while waiting for the fishermen's boats from where one could buy a delicious Sea-Food Soup (ZUPPA di PESCE).A dish that Giacomino used to cook “Come Dio Comanda”(as God Orders),cooking on a slow fire the different kinds of fish on different pans. Usually Giacomino used to supervise personally that everything amalgamated perfectly. Times change and the tourism in Positano changed also. We are in the years of the “BOOM” especially for the “MODA POSITANO”.The owner of the place where Giacomino had his restaurant wants it to estabilish a Boutique. It is also right.Giacomino does not give up, and with the help of his wife and sons,changes activity also. In his property,situated in Via dei Mulini ,he renews an old ruin and,in the closed gardens,among orange and lemon trees,builds with wooden boards some incredible terraces amongst the green vegetation, and the parfume of the ZAGARE. In front of these terraces rises an incomparable view of the Cupola Majolica of the Chiesa Madre and ,of course, the sea. He gives birth to a BAR;and what a Bar!The Mytical “LA ZAGARA”is born. Here you can taste the first pie made with fruits in season.La Positanese Cioco made of melted chocolate and sponge cake(it is a Sacher without jam)as well as The Ugly but Good made of chocolate,merengue,almonds and sour cherries and the Mytical Zagara Cake with chocolate and tangerine in syrup. For everyone who goes to Positano it is unthinkable not to go once to la Zagara. PLEASE NOTE:Zagara is not a place for gluttons ,it is especially a romantic corner for lovers;an ermitage of secrecy for everyone who wants to discuss business or politics;the ideal atmosphere for everyone who wishes to reconquer a lost love. What more can be told ……………………………………… Giacomino is with us no longer………………..to carry on his ideas are his wife Palmina and his children Paolo,Mario and Alessandra.
